Severe Pollution Caused by Industrial Farming
Utilizing drone footage, Animal Equality released an investigation denouncing the serious environmental risks caused by pig farms in Mexico. The short documentary, called Enemy of the Planet, was produced using drones that flew over two industrial pig farms in Jalisco that house more than 89,000 pigs. The goal of the investigation is to publicize the damage caused by industrial livestock farming.
Cruelty Found on Brazilian Pig Farm
In footage captured by Animal Equality investigators in Brazil, pigs raised for human consumption are shown being treated cruelly on industrial farms in Brazil. The video, with a version narrated in Portuguese by Brazilian actress Ellen Jabour, shows pigs being beaten with electrified sticks and forced to live in their own feces and urine, exposing the unsanitary conditions of industrial pig farms.
Report With Público Shows Reality of Chicken Farms
Animal Equality, along with Ana Pardo de Vera, Chief Editor at Público, released an investigation into a factory farm in Spain documenting the cruelty of the farm's environment and rapid growth of chickens. Our team visited the same farm during different life stages of the farm’s chickens, revealing the immense suffering these birds go through before slaughter.
Shocking Pattern of Neglect at Nebraska Dairy Supplier
Animal Equality investigated Summit Calf Ranch in Nebraska, a facility housing 11,000 calves and owned by Tuls Dairy a supplier of Bel Brands, producer of Babybel and The Laughing Cow Cheese. The footage our investigator recorded reveals prolonged suffering of dozens of calves freezing to death outdoors. Repeated exposure to extreme temperatures resulted in frozen limbs, and the separation of the hoof from the leg of several calves. Some even died in agony as they were thrown into a pile of dead and dying animals. We're pushing authorities to consider criminal charges against those involverd.
Live-Transport of Lambs Revealed
Animal Equality's investigators have documented the suffering of tens of thousands of lambs as they are shipped from Spain hundreds of miles by truck and then forced to travel by sea across long distances. The journeys can last up to ten days until their arrival at Emirates or Egypt where the animals will be killed while fully conscious.
Investigation Into Cruel and Dangerous Wet Markets in Asia
Citing public health and safety, Animal Equality launched a worldwide campaign and petition calling on the United Nations to immediately close all wet markets that sell animals. Not only do these markets pose an immediate danger to humans, but they are also intensely cruel and abhorrently inhumane to animals, as shown by our investigation into wet markets in China, India, and Vietnam.
Animal Sacrifice at Gadhimai Festival 2020
Thousands of animals were once again sacrificed at the Gadhimai Temple in Southern Nepal at an event held in conjunction with the 2019 Gadhimai festival. In exclusive footage captured by Animal Equality investigators, buffaloes, goats, and pigeons were filmed violently maimed and killed by festival attendees using a variety of weapons.
With My Own Eyes: Rooney Mara Joins Factory Farm Investigation
Animal rights activist and actor, Rooney Mara, joined Animal Equality for an investigation inside two modern farms. The investigation video, narrated by Mara and titled “With My Own Eyes,” reveals how pigs and chickens raised for meat, languished in abhorrent conditions, and encourages viewers to examine this harsh and painful reality for billions of farmed animals.
Gadhimai Festival Ritual Animal Killing
Animal Equality investigators have documented the massive ritual slaughter of animals during the Gadhimai Festival in Southern Nepal, which takes place every five years. Using drones, the investigators captured the magnitude of the killing, which occurred despite a promise to ban animal sacrifice.
The Reality of the Turkey Industry
Animal Equality investigators documented hatcheries, factory farms and slaughterhouses that show standard practices that are also present in the United States. In the hatcheries, the birds who do not meet the standards required by the industry are discarded alive along with the eggshells. They will die in the trash containers, crushed soon after seeing the world for the first time.
