When you apply for a job at Animal Equality, we collect personal data from you during the evaluation process. This Privacy Notice describes what personal data we collect, as well as how we use and retain that personal data.
This Privacy Notice only applies to information you provide to us and information we collect about you during the hiring process. Your use of our website as a general user and your relationship with us as a supporter is subject to our user Privacy Policy.
If you choose to support us as a donor, our Donor Privacy Policy will apply.
Please read this Notice carefully to understand our practices regarding the personal data collected during the hiring process. If you do not agree with our practices as described in this Notice, your choice is not to apply to a position at Animal Equality. By applying, you agree to this Notice.
Information You Provide to Us and How We Use It
When you apply for a position with Animal Equality, we collect your name, contact information, resume, and cover letter. Your resume and cover letter will likely include information such as your employment history, academic background, skills, and competencies.
We use this information to assess your suitability for the position you’ve applied for and contact you should we choose to move forward. We may also evaluate your fit for any other open positions. This information is not subject to any automated processing decisions and is instead reviewed by senior decision-makers at Animal Equality, as relevant to the posted position.
If we decide, on the basis of the personal data you submit, that you may be a good fit for us, we may request to meet with you in one or more video interviews. Such interviews will be conducted over a secure messaging platform and may be recorded so that our hiring team may review them. If you do not wish your interviews to be recorded, you may let us know, but please be advised we may decline to proceed forward in the hiring process. If we choose to record your interview, we will inform you and request your verbal consent at the start of the recorded interview.
We may also request the names and contact information of your references. Prior to an offer of employment being extended, we will verify the information you provided to us through external sources.
After the hiring process is complete, if you were not selected, we will retain your name, contact information, resume, cover letter, and video interviews for a period of one year to consider you for future employment and comply with applicable law. If we receive a subpoena or other similar legal notice, we may retain your information for longer, as needed to comply with our legal obligations.
For applicants who become employees of Animal Equality, the personal data you submit will become part of your employee file.
How We Protect and Share Your Information
We have implemented measures designed to secure your personal information, including the use of secure digital systems and limited staff access.
We only share your information with our third-party service providers who assist us in the verification of the personal data you provided. If we run a comprehensive background check on you, we receive your prior explicit consent to do so.
We never sell your personal data.
