German photographer, Timo Stammberger, combines his passion for photography with his passion for social justice issues to tell a story. His stories are meant to inform the public through visual images to evoke an emotional response with the hopes of creating a better world for all. His subject matter varies from the eerie scenes from underground transit to personal stories of refugees.

Pig fattening and breeding farm – 65,000 pigs

Stammberger’s recent series, Making The Connection, gives an aerial and ground view into the world of factory farming.  He is able to show how these secluded farms give the impression of industrial processing plants, leaving us to never suspect that living beings are crowded inside. This hidden part of the industry allows consumers to disassociate themselves from the packaged meat at the supermarket or the everyday restaurant burger.

With these photographs, Stammberger hopes that people will begin to question the reality of factory farming, and change the way we think about the animals we call food.
