2025 Fall IMPACT REPORT

Nine months in.

Millions of lives changed.

This is your compassion at work.

Dear animal advocate,

You’ve been the force behind groundbreaking achievements for animals this year.

You continue to lead the global campaign against Ahold Delhaize, with daily protests at their headquarters in the Netherlands. You made our first Argentine investigation possible, resulting in formal complaints for abuse. In the U.K., your fish exposé became The Guardian’s most-read article.

This reflects your power for animals. Here’s to making a lasting difference everywhere.

With appreciation,

Sharon Núñez
President, Animal Equality

HIGHLIGHTS

You launched your first Argentine investigation with actor and comedian Kiki Petrone, exposing two Buenos Aires slaughterhouses. Formal complaints were filed to hold them accountable for abuse. You also launched a Love Veg cookbook with Argentine recipes to help people make compassionate choices.

Love Veg, Animal Equality’s plant‑based program

With the new cookbook “Around the World with Love Veg,” you offered a global, plant-based journey, featuring exciting recipes from eight countries. In Mexico, your plant-based cooking workshops continue to inspire students and communities. Meanwhile, you’ve introduced new people to Love Veg at festivals across Italy.

“Thanks to the Love Veg workshops, I’ve come to realize that we don’t really need animals on our plates.

END FACTORY FARMING

Factory farms confine hens, mutilate piglets, and separate calves from their mothers, leading to their painful deaths in slaughterhouses. Together, we will put an end to this cruelty.

You took a stand against the Save Our Bacon Act in the U.S., working to protect vital animal protections from being overturned.

In Mexico, you teamed up with singer Denise Gutiérrez to expose dairy industry cruelty in a video that gathered over 120,000 views in just two weeks. You also continued to push for Mexico’s first nationwide animal protection law, a crucial mandate from last year’s constitutional reforms.

In the U.K., your investigation into the farmed trout industry revealed fish being bludgeoned, left to suffocate, and trodden on by the public (including a child). This exposé became The Guardian’s most-read article, highlighting the urgent need for improved fish protections.

In Scotland, you led the world’s largest salmon farming company to stop using lumpfish as “cleanerfish.” This came after you exposed thousands of lumpfish dying on their farms.

In Spain, you’ve been fighting misleading animal welfare labels by proposing amendments to a bill on sustainable consumption.

In Europe, you contributed to a legislative review of animal protection laws, fighting against cages, male chick killing, and force-feeding.

Animal Equality’s team in Italy drops a banner in front of the iconic Colleseum to protest the government’s failed progress to end male chick killing.

“As an attorney, I’ve never represented any organization as reliably strategic as Animal Equality when it comes to the law. Their use of legal initiatives to solve the problem of factory farming is tactical and sensible.”

—Ryan Gordon, Attorney for Advancing Law for Animals

END CAGES FOR PIGS AND HENS

Farmers confine millions of mother pigs and hens in tiny cages where they can’t move freely. Despite bans in some U.S. states and countries, many still suffer.

Following nearly 600 days of campaigning, Denny’s has pledged to stop buying from suppliers that cage pigs for their entire pregnancies. IHOP quickly followed suit.

Meanwhile, you’ve held powerful global protests against Ahold Delhaize for backtracking on its commitment to end cages in its U.S. supply chain. This included demonstrations at its Netherlands headquarters

Your campaign against Marriott hotels led to protests across the U.S., Mexico, the U.K., Brazil, Italy, and Spain. This included a notable action on NBC’s Today Show.

In India, you’ve partnered with hotels to eliminate eggs from caged hens, with some already achieving a 100% transition.

STOP MALE CHICK KILLING

Male chicks in the egg industry are killed because they cannot lay eggs and cannot be raised for meat. In-ovo sexing technology offers an alternative by identifying the sex of embryos before hatching.

Thanks to you, in-ovo sexing technology is now available in Brazil. This technology will save thousands of male chicks from being killed because they can’t lay eggs. You negotiated with Raiar Orgânicos, the country’s largest organic egg producer, to adopt this technology.

END HORSE SLAUGHTER

Every year, thousands of U.S. horses are sent to Canada and Mexico to be slaughtered for meat.

Thousands of emails have been sent to the U.S. Congress, urging lawmakers to pass the SAFE Act. This legislation would end the export of American horses for slaughter. Meanwhile, your protests in Italy advocated for a ban on horse slaughter and the recognition of horses as companion animals.

Protestors stand at famous horse statues in call for an end to horse slaughter.
