Here, this
is the 22nd slaughterhouse. We
have documented in Mexico this time in
the state of Hidalgo.
They all have something in common.
At all of these slaughterhouses animal equality
investigators have documented serious violations of
laws and regulations that cause extreme
pain and stress to the animals.
Watch what we discovered the abuse
begins as soon as the pigs arrive at the slaughterhouse to
get them off the trucks. They are kicked
and beaten once inside.
Things get worse. They hear
the sounds of the other pigs being killed as they await their
turn.
Pigs here face a death that subjects them
to violent and illegal treatment.
Pigs are rarely stunned before
they are hoisted.
Pigs weighing more than 200 pounds are dragged
by a chain and hung in this position sometimes for
over a minute.
This practice causes them extreme pain and distress
leading up to their deaths when their
throats are cut.
Fully conscious pigs will sometimes struggle so hard
they fall to the floor.
An employee throws a fallen Peg off the platform which can
cause serious injury.
The pig is rechained and hoisted back
up to continue down the line again.
