Mexican slaughterhouses – An investigation by Animal Equality

In an extensive undercover investigation
inside 21 slaughterhouses in seven different states in
Mexico, animal equality documented.
The cruelty found animals are subjected to pigs are stabbed.
While being completely conscious, suffering in agony.
For several minutes, these animals
suffer terribly and die slow and painful death.
No civilized country should allow this type of animal abuse.
This footage was obtained
inside government owned slaughterhouses.

These practices in the states of pco, Nuevo, Leon
ENTs, San Luis Potosi, Colima, zte, and Ridge.
These cruel practices are common in slaughterhouses Across
Mexico, pigs are stabbed on the side of their bodies,
terrified and in agony.
They slip and fall on their own blood.
In some slaughterhouse, workers beat the animals with axes
until they are semi unconscious.
Since they are terrified, the pigs refuse to move.
So the workers beat them to force them
to enter the slaughterhouse,
and they are electrocuted
to make them move along in the killing line.
Once inside, these smart
and sensitive animals witness
how other pigs are killed in front of them.
This is very stressful for the pigs and is not allowed,
but the law is broken in all the
slaughterhouses we investigated.
Animal abuse is so common that in this slaughterhouse owned
by a university where future veterinarians are trained,
students stab young piglets
and lead them to die in agony for several minutes.
All of this is illegal, however, it happens every day.
All across Mexico, these big
and heavy animals are hung upside down by one leg,
while still conscious kicking in the air, the tendons
of their legs rupture, causing them excruciating pain.
In panic, these animals receive electric shocks
and are stabbed in the neck while being fully
conscious to save time.
Some workers gather a number of pigs
and kill them all at once.
Workers even give electric shocks
to the pigs directly in the eyes
and continue to stab them to death.
Sheeps lambs and goats have their throat slid
and are decapitated without prior.
Stunning. The treatment these animals receive is
brutal and violent.
The few slaughterhouses that attempt
to stu these animals do it wrong.
So the animals agonize for several minutes before dying.
Nobody cares about their suffering.
Cows and bulls are often left conscious even
after being shot with a bolt gun in the head.
They're then bled to death while they try to stand up.
Animal equality. Investigators documented animal abuse in
all the slaughterhouses they visited.
The evidence they gathered shows
that all these places are breaking federal laws
unaware of these conditions.
Consumers are unknowingly supporting
this horrible animal abuse.
Farmed animals need immediate protection
to spare them from the worst abuses.
