Dallas: Protest Denny’s Use of Cages
Join Animal Equality and activists outside of the Best Practices conference in a protest against the extreme abuse toward pregnant pigs in Denny’s supply chain. Denny’s, the diner that’s “Always Open,” is allowing a practice that is so cruel, it is already banned in 11 US states and hundreds of companies have pledged to phase it out.
In 2012, the restaurant chain made a public commitment to end the use of gestation crates. After more than 10 years, the majority of female breeding pigs in Denny’s supply chain are still confined to metal cages so small they can’t even turn around. They spend nearly their entire lives this way.
Denny’s recently removed its goal of ending this horrific practice and now refuses to engage animal protection groups and even customers who are concerned about the failed commitment. Hundreds of calls, emails, and social media comments have gone ignored.
The Best Practices conference will have an awards ceremony, and Denny’s is one of the nominees. A Denny’s exec will also be speaking at the event.
Posters will be provided. Time and date is subject to change, so check back for any updates.
