Chickens Filmed Struggling at UK Farm
Investigators visited Knapp Farm in the United Kingdom and filmed chickens desperately struggling, but unable to stand, and dead birds littering the floor. On one visit, investigators found a weak young bird trapped inside a dumpster, shivering on top of a pile of rotting corpses.
Dairy Farm Worker Caught Red-Handed
Undercover footage captured by Animal Equality showed a farm worker violently kicking, punching, and throwing calves on a UK dairy farm. Animal Equality provided the footage and images to local authorities and the worker pleaded guilty to animal cruelty. Abusive treatment was not the only suffering we found on this Somerset farm, which runs a farm shop and B&B as well as supplying Muller Milk (formerly Muller Wiseman), one of the main processors used by Tesco, Sainsbury’s, M&S and the Coop for their own-brand milks.
Calves Suffering in Severe Confinement on Dairy Farm
An Animal Equality UK investigation exposed a dairy farm that supplied Marks & Spencer (M&S), a well-known supermarket chain in the United Kingdom that promotes itself as a leader in animal welfare standards. Calves were confined in pens so small that they could barely take a step forward.
Abuse Found on Celebrated UK Pig Farm
Investigators found distressing conditions on four pig farms in the United Kingdom, including one which had won a ‘National Pig Award’ in 2016 and 2017. Pigs were routinely tail-docked, a practice prohibited by UK law, and female pigs were confined in cramped stalls for at least five continuous days.

Cruelty Found in Indian Cattle Markets
Animal Equality studied Indian cattle markets across seven states and found that the animals were denied food and water, and were often abused. Cows were prodded with sticks and had hot chilli rubbed in their eyes to make them move. Child labor was also documented in the cattle markets.
Bullock Cart Races
Animal Equality worked in India, alongside local activists and organizatioms, to ban cruel bullock cart races. Our investigators witnessed bulls being beaten, whipped, electrocuted, force-fed alcohol, prodded with nails and spiked instruments. Following our investigation and thanks to the work of multiple organizations, the Supreme Court of India implemented a ban on these cruel races.
