Ask Kroger to live its values and end cages for hens

Kroger is bringing its leaders together for its Momentum Conference—a moment to talk about the company’s future, its priorities, and the values that guide its decisions.

We believe this is also an important moment to address a commitment Kroger made to animals and its customers.

Dawn Gilmore is a senior HR leader at Kroger, supporting teams across Merchandising, Marketing, Our Brands, and eCommerce. As Kroger’s leaders come together, we are respectfully asking Dawn to help bring the treatment of animals into the conversation.

Kroger previously committed to eliminating cages for laying hens by 2025. It did not meet that commitment and has since announced a goal of reaching only 70% cage-free eggs by 2030.

For hens, this matters. Birds confined in cages have extremely limited space and are prevented from performing basic natural behaviors, including walking freely and fully spreading their wings.

Kroger has the opportunity to show leadership and demonstrate that the commitments it makes matter.

Ask Dawn Gilmore to encourage Kroger’s leadership to meet with Animal Equality and establish a clear path toward ending cages for hens.
