SMS terms and conditions
Last updated: October 22, 2026
1. About our text messages
Animal Equality is a nonprofit organization working to end cruelty to animals.
We use text messages (SMS and MMS) to help people take part in our campaigns, receive updates, share their opinions, and support our work.
These terms apply to Animal Equality’s text messaging programs in the United States.
2. How to sign up
You can sign up by texting a keyword to the phone number shown on our website, social media, or campaign materials.
For example, you may be invited to text UNCAGED to a campaign phone number to take part.
We may ask you to reply Y to confirm that you want to receive messages.
By signing up, you agree to receive text messages from Animal Equality about the campaign or activity you joined. These may include instructions, confirmations, updates, and ways to take action, depending on what was explained when you signed up.
Joining one campaign does not automatically sign you up for other campaigns. You do not need to agree to receive text messages to make a donation.
3. Message frequency and costs
Message frequency varies depending on the campaign and your participation.
Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier may charge you for sending or receiving messages.
Animal Equality does not charge you for participating in our text messaging programs.
4. How to stop receiving messages
You can stop receiving messages at any time by replying STOP.
We will send you a message confirming that you have unsubscribed. You will not receive further messages from that program unless you sign up again.
5. How to get help
If you need help, reply HELP to any of our campaign messages.
You can also reach us at our contact page.
6. Photos, videos, and statements
Some campaigns may invite you to send photos, videos, written statements, or other content by text message.
We may review what you send before sharing it publicly.
Sending content does not automatically give Animal Equality permission to publish it. When needed, we will ask for your permission separately.
Please only send content that belongs to you or that you have permission to share.
If you unsubscribe from text messages, any separate permission you previously gave us to use your content will remain in effect unless you withdraw it according to the terms of that permission.
7. Your privacy
We respect your privacy and handle your information according to our Privacy policy.
We do not sell or share your phone number, text message sign-up information, or consent with other organizations for their own marketing or promotional purposes.
We may work with trusted service providers to send messages and manage our programs.
8. Message delivery
Text messages may sometimes be delayed or fail to arrive because of network problems or other technical issues.
Mobile carriers are not responsible for delayed or undelivered messages.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page.
If we make important changes to a messaging program, we may notify you or ask for your consent again.
10. Contact and additional information
These terms are part of Animal Equality’s general Terms of use and Privacy policy.
If you have questions, please contact us.
