How do you take on one of the most powerful
and hidden systems in the world today?
Intensive factory farming by giant corporations
isn't just bad for the animals involved,
it's also bad for human health.
Which is why I'm teaming up with the folks
at Animal Equality to try and fix this problem.
And I need your help.
These folks work tirelessly to expose
the horrific conditions of caged farm animals
because when it comes to factory farming,
extreme confinement is the name of the game.
Like hens forced to live so densely
they can't even spread their wings,
and pigs confined in cages so small
they can't even turn around.
Animal Equality's investigators documented
a pig breeding facility recently where mother pigs
are forced to live the majority of their lives
in cages barely larger than their own bodies.
And these facilities are often
deliberately hidden from public view
so that their abuse can carry on unnoticed
and have been directly linked to a number of US
grocery chains that you might even be
buying your meat from.
So this month, I am doing a matching challenge
where I will personally donate up
to $50,000 matching whatever you guys donate
to this campaign
to try and stop cages and farms in America.
Because again,
these practices aren't just bad for the animals.
They're really bad for human health, too.
Factory farms have shown to be perfect
breeding grounds for viruses like H5n1,
as well as breeding superbugs.
Because these animals are kept
in such squalid conditions,
they need to be pumped full of antibiotics
just to stay alive.
So yeah, it's not a great situation, but
if we manage to fulfill this matching challenge,
Animal Equality will be able to bring on
an additional team member to help fight this.
And as you know, I'm a big stickler for cost
effectiveness and transparency of charities.
And I'm confident that every dollar that we raise
together will go directly to this fight.
So please join me and help with this challenge
by donating today. Thank you.
