Legal Advocacy – Animal Equality

farmed animals often lack any legal
protections or rights
animal equality works to put the law on
their side
our legal team advances animal
protection by ensuring that existing
laws are strictly enforced to the
benefit of all animals we are a voice
for the innocent throughout the eight
countries that animal equality is active
in we strive to be an effective force on
the side of animals we work within the
legal system to secure stronger
protections that benefit farmed animals
in places where we find laws to be
insufficient animal equality submits
recommendations to governments to
improve the lives of animals these
recommendations are then often adopted
by governments in some cases we
collaborate with senators MPs and other
officials to influence government policy
our work has included collaborating with
other animal protection groups to help
end the extreme confinement of animals
in California and Massachusetts wherein
justices have occurred animal equality
seeks justice for those involved with
the help of our investigations
department animal equality holds
individuals and companies accountable
for abusing farmed animals our work has
resulted in historic convictions of
workers for acts committed against
animals investigations of animal
agriculture facilities by local
authorities and the closure of
slaughterhouses farms and meat markets
around the world
all of this incredible legal advocacy
has resulted in progress for farmed
animals in the EU following an animal
equality campaign the European
Parliament made history in voting to
move forward on legislation that would
improve the welfare of more than 400
million farmed rabbits and in Spain
animal equality worked with local
authorities to hold farmworkers
accountable for horrific cases of abuse
on a pig farm together we obtained the
maximum sentence possible making history
for farmed animals strategically using
the legal system to protect
advance the rights of farmed animals is
a powerful way to maximize our efforts
towards a more compassionate and just
world for all animals
