Animal Equality staff Sean Thomas, International Director of Investigations, and Alice Trombetta, General Manager of Animal Equality, Italy have been featured in an investigative series on Italy’s most widely-read news outlet.

WATCH THE LATEST EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Corriere della Sera has released the first video of the series, in which Thomas describes in detail his own experience working in slaughterhouses.

A DANGER TO HUMAN HEALTH: According to the CDC thousands of slaughterhouse and meat processing plant workers have been sickened and many have died from COVID-19 outbreaks. These meat plants pose a threat to everyone, as the workers could unknowingly spread the virus to their family members and surrounding communities.

CRUEL TO ANIMALS: Not only is the meat industry a danger to the public, but it also causes unimaginable suffering for animals. Chickens, cows, pigs, and other animals raised for food typically being to suffer from the moment they’re born. They are raised in extreme confinement—female pigs, for example, are kept in crates so small they can’t turn around—they suffer from painful mutilations without pain killers, and many will never see the sunlight. Then, due to the fast-moving speeds at the slaughterhouse, animals are often killed while still fully conscious.

WHAT YOU CAN DO: One of the most important things you can do to help both animals and humans is to stop supporting this cruel industry. With all of the amazing plant-based alternatives out there nowadays, ditching animal products is easier than ever, and you’ll feel great knowing that you’re not supporting cruelty.
