Urge Congress to Protect American Horses

The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has adopted language to protect American horses from being transported to slaughter

In May of 2026, the House Transportation Committee adopted an amendment to H.R. 8870. This is a major, deadline-driven bill. It would prohibit transporting horses across state lines when destined for slaughter.

It targets the same outcome: stopping American horses from entering the global pipeline. 

Why it matters now:

• The bill faces a September 30, 2026 deadline 

• The amendment already passed committee (34-30), a small margin

• It needs pressure at every stage to survive the House floor and Senate negotiations
