Bookkeeper

Terms of Employment: Full Time, At-Will, Exempt
Reports to: Director of Finance
Position Location: Los Angeles, USA

 

Position Objective:

The Bookkeeper will manage the day to day bookkeeping for our US office. Successful candidates must be detail-oriented and extremely well organized. The ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment is essential.

General Responsibilities:

  • Bank deposit duties, including: Preparing check and cash deposits, making bank deposits and entering transactions with appropriate coding and classification into accounting software
  • Accounts payable duties, including: Paying bills through checks, ACH, wire or credit card, vendor management, mailing and entering transactions with appropriate coding and classification into accounting software
  • Credit card receipt management for multiple cards and monitoring of transactions through expense management software (populated by cardholders) which is integrated into accounting software
  • ACH deposit duties including: Organizing and reconciling data from payment processors and entering transactions with appropriate coding and classification into accounting software
  • Employee expense report management including follow up and entering transactions with appropriate coding and classification into accounting software
  • Organizing files, whether electronic or paper, to ensure sufficient supporting documentation for transactions
  • Coordinating with other departments as it relates to purchases, receipts or any other information necessary to perform job and being a resource to other staff for certain inquires
  • Assisting with other finance related tasks as necessary including audit preparation, increasing efficiencies in Finance processes and other niche financial projects as they occur
  • Perform other related duties as necessary, requiring strong organizational and time management skills

Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years of related experience, including bookkeeping
  • Nonprofit experience preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel and Quickbooks skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects
  • Ability to work independently, with oversight from the Director of Finance
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people on various issues
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organization

 

Salary and Benefits:

Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits package includes health, dental, vision, and 401(k). Casual vegan office environment includes companion animals.
