GADHIMAI FESTIVAL 2020 Investigation
In January 2020, animals once again were forced to travel hours—sometimes days—without food or water, only to be brutally slaughtered once the arrived at the Gadhamai Temple.
Pigeons also experienced the terrible cruelty of the Gadhimai festival: After their wings were clipped, these gentle birds were thrown on the rooftop of the temple to be later slaughtered for their meat.
The festival attendees had no experience slaughtering animals and our investigative team filmed these executioners mercilessly hacking animals to death, often times taking dozens of strikes to complete the slaughter.
In the end, our investigation revealed that thousands of buffaloes, goats and pigeons were mutilated and violently killed during the Gadhimai festival's latest event.
